Halloween Party : Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City

This is the second time this year I have the opportunity to work with the good people from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City to photograph one of their events. This time it's for their Halloween Party that's held on October 22, 2008 at the Beaumont Club.

Mary + Nate: The Wedding

This is the wedding of Mary and Nate, only 5 days later from their engagement shoot that I posted earlier. So I was invited to their wedding rehearsal at Brio and I was introduced to so many people named David, ok..maybe not that many but it's still cool when I don't have to remember too many new names for the wedding day :)

My second shooter, Ria, followed the groom and his family all day, and the next two images below are from her angles:

Emotion and tears are flowing throughout the day.

At the hotel lobby, waiting for the car to arrive.

...and we are all still waiting for the car :)
(I was occupied with Mary and Nate's portrait shoot when Ria took the great composition below).

Mary's mom. I love it when the background and the subject align themselves in beautiful dance.

Always the joker ;)

During the ceremony, Nate's parents looking on.

We did it!!!!

I must admit I don't photograph people when they're having meal, but when I saw the two gentlemen having their meal I felt the urge to do it in very compositional and architectural manner just for the fun of it. When Nate and Mary saw this image weeks later, they told me that the two men in the picture actually work for an architecture firm in St. Louis. Delightful coincidence, me think :)

Everybody's getting down :)

Congratulations, Nate and Mary.

Laura + Justin: Engaged

I really wanted to remember how we got to know each of my clients, or more precisely, how my clients found me. With Laura and Justin, I honestly can't remember how that happened. But with them it doesn't really matter, we immediately clicked with each other and they gave me their complete trust. And in my opinion, there's nothing better for a photographer to receive from his future bride and groom.

True story: When we're doing this shot, a woman walked by and told us that there's certainly way better place down the street to take picture than this place :) We thought that's pretty funny.

Every now and then I'm inspired to do "rock band CD cover" shot for my client. And this time I feel the urge to do it for them, but it's not something that I planned in advance, it's more like random act (btw, my past clients they're all very familiar with my often times random jolt of creativity juice that just jumps out of nowhere...often times before I had a chance to even finish my own sentence on something totally unrelated to it). So this is my rendition of CD cover for Laura and Justin if they're releasing their music album :)

Laura and Justin, you ROCK!!

Love,
David

Mary + Nate: Engaged

I met Mary and Nate through Michelle whose wedding I photographed last year. And after seeing Michelle's wedding photos Mary and Nate decided to have me as their photographer. A little background story, Mary and Nate lived in St. Louis before they moved to Kansas City for their new jobs. They told me how they so love their old neighborhood in St. Louis so they asked me if they can have their engagement photos to remind them of their old urban neighborhood in St. Louis, which suits me just fine since I LOVE urban setting.

And oh, we did this engagement photo shoot with only 5 days before their wedding day. Talking about pressure (for me), but everything turned out great.

Mary and Nate, thank you for being you.
Love you guys,

David

Kasey + Ryan

Kasey emailed me one day saying that she was planning her wedding in Kansas City and if I'm available to become her photographer. At the time Kasey and Ryan lived in New York city. Through the power of referral network, Kasey and Ryan ended up finding me and liking my works.

Since Kasey and Ryan were getting ready in two different locations, my second shooter Ria followed the groom all day long while I followed the bride in the other location.

It always takes a few guys to figure out how to fold it ;)

And of course, Manolo Blahnik

Awesomeness.

Kasey's dad happily looks on at the newly married couple :)

These two guys know how to rock. Me think they're the future air guitar champion.

Don't you love it when your friends are always on the look out for you? :)

Kasey and Ryan, you're just too awesome!
Love,
David
